Thomas Register Offline Catalog Overview TR's Offline (CD) catalogs are HTML pages hosted on the Thomas Register CD-ROM. Each catalog consist of a minimum of four HTML pages including a home/index page.

 

HTML Page Defined?
A catalog page is the space in an HTML page occupying the dimensions of 760 pixel W x 800 pixel H, and regardless of the amount of content contained within. Therefore, 760 x 800 is the parameter, while the amount of content that fits within the space, but does not exceed that space constitutes a page of content.

 

Anatomy of a offline CD-ROM Catalog
  1. Homepage

  2. Four HTML pages of pertinent Products and Services offered by the advertiser

  3. Company logo, trademark, symbol etc in header and or in footer of each page

  4. In static text - company's E-Mail and URL in footer of each page, but not limited to that area only

  5. Phone, Fax and or 800 number

  6. Photos of products that are pertinent to the content within the catalog page(s).

Homepage
A home/index page "home.htm" must be present and should provide the following:
  1. Company name / logos information

  2. Statement: "We manufactureŠ,""Who we are, what we do, how to contact us.

  3. Navigation linking to each page within the catalog, or to a page of content which provides access to each and every page within the catalog. This may include a table of content.

  4. Navigation back to the homepage must be prominent and recommended to appear in the upper portion of each page.

  5. Clearly labeled categories or list of products and services contained within the catalog. Each item should be hot linked to that content page as a part of the navigation.

 

What should not be included in a standard Offline Catalog:

  1. Digital Videos Movies (MOV, AVI, Quicktime etc.)

  2. Flash generated pages or movies

  3. Java Applet

  4. Java references to filenames exceeding eight characters

  5. Characters other than A thru Z, lowercase

  6. Any calls to a CGI, external or local server

  7. Detail chartings and extensive specifications for each product - unless specifically required by the advertiser and the applicable amount of pages has been allotted.
